In this post, I would like to share my experience in remoting my office's PC through my iphone (I believe that you may reconstruct the similar steps on your Android phones).  With a prolong working from home (WFH) situation as experienced now, I found that remoting office's PC is extremely useful in some cases. There are two steps to do, with more details will be covered in the following passages.

The first step is downloading VPN application from appstore, which in my case I prefer using Fortinet as it is recommended by my office-the Ministry of Finance Indonesia (Kementerian Keuangan aka Kemenkeu). There are several version of the app, I use the legacy version, whose name "Forticlient6.0" (the name could be updated in the future) and created by Fortinet.

The second step is downloading Remote Desktop app. I choose "Remote Desktop Client" or abbreviated as RD Client, which created by Microsoft. The argument behind this preference is because it is free of advertisement, and more importantly it is developed by company that created windows os installed on my PC.

Setting VPN on the Forticlient app is quite easy. The input paramaters are just the same as the desktop version. For Kemenkeu, we can fill in some information as shown below:

User name is your kemenkeu username account (usually name put in front of email domain @kemenkeu.go.id).

After put all information required, you can hit save button, then connect to Kemenkeu's VPN by hitting VPN button as shown below. The status said that we are now connected, well done!

The second step is involving setting parameters for the Remote Desktop Client. I assume that you already successfully downloaded the app. To start the setting, first go to + button, to add "PC". Then you will be delivered into a menu as shown below:

Put the correct information for the PC Name as well as User Account. For the PC Name, you can ask your IT assistance or just get it by yourself by openning command prompt on your PC and type "ipconfig". You will get such a numbers separated by 4 dots.

For the User Account, it contains username credentials neccessary to access the PC. In my example, I use user name: PR16-BURSA1\BURSA (again, you can ask your IT assistance). Then, you must also provide password related to the given username.

The added PC will be displayed on the main page of the Remote Desktop Client app. You can give special name to each of the connection, as example I rename mine to PC BURSA.

The final step is just hitting the grey rectangle. If everythings are correct, you must be successfuly remoting your Desktop by now!
